Ok so being in Australia, it is summer right now. But I have my hands on this adorable Frosty Days—January Stamp of the Month, which has a more Winter feel to it.
Now I can get away with a wintery vibe at Christmas time in Australia, but in the month January, well it is the start of new year, School heading back at the end of the month after a summer break, people getting used to writing 2023 instead of 2022. Basically there is a lot going on & we mostly want to try & enjoy the rest of Summer before it’s gone.
So how do I turn this adorable Close To My Heart Winter themed stamp set to give a more summer feel?

Create A Summer Scene
So instead of hills covered in snow I created hills of green with a sum rising up & a blue sky all from pattern paper.
I used Life’s a Hoot Paper Packet Lagoon arrow pattern paper for the sky, the sun was die cut into a circle out of Are We There Yet? Paper Packet & stamped with a circle stamp image from Life’s a Hoot—Cardmaking using Mustard Seed Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad. And to complete the scene I created the hills out of the Avocado checked Flower Shoppe Paper Packet.

The tree, birdhouse & Deer from the Frosty Days—January Stamp of the Month were all coloured in with TriBlend™ Markers & fussy cut out & adhered to the card. I added a Happy Birthday from the You Deserve It All stamp set & the banner from Let’s Eat Cake stamp set.
This summer scene certainly made this Frosty Days Critter loving Summer.
Use Summer or Floral Pattern Papers
One of the fab things that Close To My Heart added to their core products is the Four Seasons Paper Packets which would work perfectly for Summer & there are lots of floral patterns. But on this card I decided to use the Flower Shoppe Paper Packet, which looks just as summery or even Valentine or Galentine’s Day.

I used the dotted Sapphire print as the base of the layers, I even made the beanie to match by colouring with True Blue Shades TriBlend™ Marker & adding white dots with a White Gel Pen to match the papers. I used the Ballerina & Raspberry Floral print on top of that & drew a border using a black gel pen. I cut up a strip of Pine Cardstock & used the lighter side & stamped a pattern with the leafs & heart from the Frosty Days—January Stamp of the Month set.
I decided that I wanted to see more of the pattern paper that I used on this card so I did cut down the bear image I stamped. It is perfectly ok to not use the full image. I coloured the bear with both the Tan TriBlend™ Marker & the Tan Shades TriBlend™ Marker to give some highlights & shadows & added a couple of white gel highlights. The mug was coloured to match the floral paper from the the Flower Shoppe Paper Packet. I over stamped the Hello Friend image onto the bear – it just seemed perfect sentiment as he is holding a cup of coffee which you have with a friend.
Combine with other Stamp Sets
Not only did I combine the Frosty Days—January Stamp of the Month with the Let’s Eat Cake stamp set, I also grabbed the card idea straight from the January–March 2023 Catalogue. I only made some slight changes.

I used the Celebrating You Paper Packet as that paper collection is perfect for Birthdays. I did some sponging in the middle to create some depth. I also added a rainbow from the Storybook—Scrapbooking Stamp + Thin Cuts as I felt it needed it as I was not using the base cake to make it as tall. A couple of Forrest Critters from the Frosty Days—January Stamp of the Month & a little birdhouse decoration on the cake finished the card up nicely.
Use those Sentiments
A sentiment can change what the card is intended for. You can use Thin Cut Dies, Cricut or Digital Images or stamps to choose a sentiment for any occasion & is a very simple way to change these Frosty Days critters from Winter Christmas feel to something more summery. The critters that I used have beanies, but they sort of give them a Hipster Look (Though I don’t think the Hipster Look is still a thing these days LOL), but the card is now a For You Card by using this Thin Cut Die on the card.

I used the floral pattern from the Four Seasons—Summer Paper Packet and created my sentiment with the For You Thin Cuts from White Daisy and adhered it onto sponged Lagoon Cardstock. The Daisy White strip was backed with Lagoon Line printed Celebrating You Paper Packet
