Whimsical Transformation: Birdhouse to Fairy Abode

Welcome to the whimsical world of fairies! Have you ever dreamt of creating a whimsical fairy house perfect for a scrapbook layout or adorning a card? Today, we’ve taken the charming Stampin’ Up! Country Birdhouse Dies and transformed it into a delightful fairy house. This cozy birdhouse once transformed into a whimsical fairy haven, is perfect for embellishing a scrapbook layout or on a magical card front.

Crafting the Fairy House

  1. Start by die-cutting the Country Birdhouse from your white cardstock
  2. Instead of a traditional birdhouse roof, use the Cheerful Daisies die to create a floral haven for our fairies.
    • Other Ideas: Take a look at your Flower Stamps & Dies & find something that will create a petal shape roof. Consider different flowers or even leaves for different seasons.
  3. Let’s add some whimsy! Utilize the hand-sketched mushroom stamps from the Inspirational Sketches Stamp Set for an extra dose of fairy magic, this was added to the side of the house, and even used one as a whimsical chimney! I coloured these mushrooms in with alcohol markers and added some depth & dimension using paper tole ideas of layers.
  4. Add some potted plants using the dies from the Country Flowers Bundle and some tall Cheerful Daisies to the side of the house so it looks like it is nestled into a garden of daisies.
  5. I hand cut an arched door & die cut a circle to view a small stamp to look like a stain glass window & added a Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearl for the door handle.

Bonus Tip: For added dimension and shimmer, consider using Shimmery White Embossing Paste or Wink of Stella.

Scrapbook Layout

For the base I used Wildly Flowering Designer Series Paper, I cut out the center square, leaving a 2″ Border & flipped the paper over so it showed the blue pattern on the other side. I matted this with Early Espresso from the Neutrals 12″ x 12″ Cardstock. I used my cricut to create the title (You could use the  Mini Alphabet Dies instead) and added a Daisy & some mushrooms to the title to tie in with the Fairy House Embellishment created. The two photo placements have a photo mat & a little tag on the side which is from the Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack.

Fairy House Card

For the card I created the background with the Drizzling Droplets Stamp set & stamped it twice in a blue/green ink. I thought it sort of looked like rain but also sort of looked like vines or tree branches full of leaves hanging down. At the bottom of the card I added some light brown torn paper & then added the house to the centre of the card.

This enchanting fairy house is a delightful embellishment for a scrapbook layout documenting a child’s fairy garden or a whimsical touch on a springtime card.
