Playing with ink & finding beauty in the smudges

Dimension and Delight: Mixed Media Scrapbooking with Stampin’ Up!

Have you ever scrolled through Pinterest or Instagram and seen a Scrapbook Layout with lots of layers of ink & thought “how did they do that?” Well, with mixed media it’s super easy adding layers, textures, and unexpected elements to create a truly unique and personal page.

Today, we’ll explore a layout bursting with dimension and shimmer, featuring a delightful mix of Stampin’ Up! products that have been created with lots of layering of stamped images.

Prepping the Canvas: A Textured Delight

Our journey begins with the background, the foundation for our story. I use clear gesso (if you only have white gesso that will work as well, your white cardstock will have a more cream colour finish than white) onto my white cardstock. Gesso protects your cardstock & preps it so you can use water & allows you to have the ink run instead of seeping into the cardstock.

Once that was done I stamped the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder onto the background with Basic Beige Ink, not worried about a perfect impression, it is just a layer of texture.

I then stamped what I think is a bunch of leaves could be petals? from the Textured Floral Stamp Set again in the Basic Beige Ink, this is just add a different shape & layer.

I then medium & smaller flower from the Textured Floral Stamp Set with Harbour ink which is very much like the Stampin’ Up Misty Moonlight and then sprayed with water to make the inks spread a bit but still keeping the basic shape. If you feel your flowers are lost you can re-stamp some more ontop & not spray them with water. This overlaps the stamping done with the embossing folder & previous stamping.

I added some dottage which saves me doing some ink splattering and some of the longer leaf images in the Textured Floral Stamp Set with Sage ink which is similar to Soft Sea Foam Ink.

What is not seen in the video but you can just notice in the photos is that I added a splattering of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush, I found the colour worked well with the Basic Beige Ink.

With these techniques and Stampin’ Up! products, you’ve created a mixed-media masterpiece that’s bursting with personality. Remember, there are no hard and fast rules in mixed media – embrace the process, experiment with different techniques, and let your creativity bloom!

For this Scrapbook Layout I focused on layering the stamping. Started with the Stampin’ Up Distressed Tile 3D Folder & then added some Textural Floral Stamps along withe Spritz with water to make the images run. Added my layout which uses Wildly Flowering DSP. . . #stampinup #scrapbooking #papercraft #scrapbook #stamping #mixedmedia #craft
