The Global Design Project had a colour challenge this week —Darling Duckling, Poppy Parade & Pool Party—and it was the perfect excuse to play with my soon-to-be-released Festive Friends stamp set.

Colouring with Ink Pads & Blender Pens & Stampin’ Blends
When you think of colouring stamped images, you might reach for Stampin’ Blends first. But did you know your ink pads can do the job too?
I stamped my snowman in Memento ink and coloured the Pool Party and Darling Duckling sections with my trusty Stampin’ Blends. But when it came to Poppy Parade, my marker had mysteriously vanished into the depths of my craft desk (we’ve all been there, right?).
So I reached for my ink pad and a blender pen instead—and it worked beautifully! This is a great trick if you don’t own every marker colour or need to finish a project without pausing for a desk clean-up. Here is how:
- Press your ink pad lid gently so it leaves a little puddle of colour inside.
- Pick up the ink with your blender pen.
- Apply to your stamped image, just like you would with a marker.
It’s an easy, affordable alternative and gives you softer shading options too. I finished my card with Pool Party snowflakes in the background and Pool Party two-tone cardstock for the base. Simple, fun, and full of festive charm!
