This card is all about the power of layering and texture!
Sometimes a sketch challenge is just what you need to push your creativity in new directions! When I saw this sketch, I immediately thought of showcasing the gorgeous Stampin’ Up!’s Petals of Beauty & Words of Beauty with an overlay of embossed vellum with the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder that adds serious wow-factor.
The Sketch that Inspired the Card
This card is a great example of how a sketch can spark creativity! I was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches #711 – A Sketch by Kim to create my card

Working from a sketch, I created this dimensional floral arrangement using the stunning Stampin’ Up!’s Petals of Beauty

Give This Technique a Try!
The background is a showstopper: Embossed vellum adds a beautiful softness, and the Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder gives just the right amount of detail. After embossing, I lightly blended Granny Apple Green over part of the panel to mimic the sketch’s soft background curve.
Over the top of this blended background I layered the leaves in which was blended with Mossy Meadow to make them really pop.
By using the second-generation/first-generation stamping hack with Strawberry Slush – this subtle shift creates incredible depth and variation with just one ink pad! and then die cut just the outlines in white cardstock and and layered them directly over the stamped flowers. This creates incredible dimension and makes each petal pop off the page!
The flowers were adhered over the leaves, popping up the smaller flowers with foam dots. The sentiment from Words of Beauty was stamped onto vellum & die cut, and added with mini glue dots. All of it sits on a Crumb Cake card base for warmth and balance.
This technique works beautifully for any occasion – just change up your colours and you’ve got endless possibilities!
If you’re looking for a project to play with texture, translucency, and layered stamping, give this one a try—you’ll be amazed at how beautifully it all comes together!
