Who says stamp sets have to be used exactly as intended? I combined two brand NEW Stampin’ Up! releases to create this garden scene – and I’m obsessed with how it turned out!
I’ve taken the sweet, fun illustrations from the new Sweet Bugs Bundle (from the Jan–Apr Mini Catalogue) and placed them right into the detailed scene created by the Gliding Garden Swing Bundle (a Jan Online Exclusive). The result? A charming, storybook moment!
At first glance, these two sets have very different illustration styles — but that’s exactly what makes them fun to use together.
Behind the Design: Making Your Stamp Sets Work Harder
The Gliding Garden Swing creates a beautiful, story-driven focal point. On its own, it already feels like a little moment frozen in time. Adding the Sweet Bugs characters brings the scene to life — suddenly it feels playful, curious, and full of personality. Most crafters might see the Gliding Garden Swing and think ‘floral’ or ‘elegant.’ I saw an opportunity for the Sweet Bugs to have their own little reading nook and gathering spot!
The bugs almost feel like they’re interacting with the swing and the surrounding garden created using the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper. This adds movement and story — something I love bringing into my card designs.
Cute images can work beautifully in detailed, layered scenes — and more detailed stamps can still feel fun when paired with whimsical elements. This same scene would work beautifully as:
- A framed piece of home décor
- A scrapbook layout feature embellishment Cluster
- A mini album page
- An Art journal spread
