Who says bugs aren’t invited to the picnic? I took a scene from the Cute as a Bug DSP and decided it needed a few more guests. By adding fussy-cut critters and a custom basket using the Easter Basket Dies, I turned a simple background into a full-blown summer feast. Don’t you just love those tiny On Display jars tucked inside?
Combining Die Sets for Custom Scenes
Sometimes the best magic happens when you look outside a single suite. Today I’m sharing how I paired the Cute as a Bug paper with the Easter Basket Dies and On Display Dies. It’s all about scale and storytelling!
I saw the original scene of bugs drinking from flower cups as my base and thought: they need a picnic basket! So I “fussy cut” a few extra friends and summer berry fruits and added a picnic basket die cut with the Easter Basket Die. I lowered the handle a litt by snipping it apart & reattaching & filled the basket with a jar & and a bottle using the On display dies. My next hurdle was the picinic basket was hiding some of the friends.
Using a craft knife end from My Take A Pick Tool, I cut around the top and sides of the caterpillar & ladybug drinking, so they could be part of a berry good time.
