Welcome to this month’s Technique Blog Hop where we are “Magically Masked” with Close To My Heart products.
If you have arrived here from Sarah Devendorf then you are in the right place.
If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.
Masking is a great way to create the illusion of depth and is a fun technique to try out.
You start out with the image you want at the front & cover it with a post it or scrap paper, then stamp the next image so it appears behind the first.
I did this using the cute Koala Adventures Stamp & Aloha Spirit. In fact I had to do some extra masking for the small hibiscus flower which is part of the Aloha word.
I masked off the text that I did not want to ink before stamping the image, so I only got the flower. I covered the flower to stamp the Koala & shade/colouring – I did get a bit of shadow around the flower but filled it in with a Shin Han marker that closely matched the colour.
I finished off adding the surf board so that it sat behind the Koala – know the Koala kinda of looks like doing the hula. I thought the image was perfect to fussy cut around the whole image & add it to the cut apart picture my life Fun in the Sun Card from the Central Park Theme.
This is a perfect card to give to someone escaping from our winter to find some sun or for someone who just loves the sun & surf.
I’d love for you to leave a comment before you head on over to Melissa Robinson to get more wonderful masking ideas.
I hope you enjoyed what I created, as much as I enjoyed creating it and thanks so much for taking the time to check it out.
See you soon
