A Happy Hello and welcome aboard our Hawthorn Paper Suite, Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop.
If you have arrived here from Creating with Kylie then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.
Today I would like to share with you a creation which features Close To My Heart’s Featured collection Hawthorn Paper Suite.
This featured paper collection has warm, earthy tones and vintage designs combine in rich harmony, perfect for Autumn, but I went a totally different direction with this paper suite.
Today we are lucky to also have the Nov – Dec Catalogue start which have a few Christmas products so I thought I would turn this paper collection into a Christmas card using a stamp set out of the Holly Jolly Cardmaking Workshop Kit
Hawthorn Christmas Card
I cut the tartan like design paper at an angle & added some Evergreen & Sangria Cardstock so that you see a sliver of each colour under it. I also added Sangria Ribbon.
For the elf I coloured in with pattern paper, this techniques is also known as Paper Piecing & involves stamping on pattern paper & fussy cutting out & adhering into the place. I also colour some areas with alcohol markers. I love using pattern paper for colouring in as it creates an instant pattern on the stamped image which is much harder to recreate by colouring in with markers & allows you to quickly coordinate an image with the pattern paper you are using. It can also make the paper look very different the tartan design was also used in one of the presents – but it looks very different to the paper in the background of the card.
I decorated with some left over gold pearls, but you could use sequins or glitter gems in the place if you do not have any. And to make everything pop, I used 3D foam tape on the elf & on the matting behind the elf.
I hope you like my idea of combing the Hawthorn paper with something a little different. I you like to get any of the products that I have used in this project, please contact your Close To My Heart Consultant or if you do not have a consultant, I would love for you to place an order with me on my website
I’d love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop, Nell Ward
Enjoy the hop & thanks so much for taking the time to check out these ideas with this month’s feature on Hawthorn Paper Suite.
Til next time, see you soon & keep creating!
