The Safari Smiles Bundle is unashamedly delightful, it is one of those stamp sets that just makes you smile the moment you open the box . The fold structure is the same hexagon pop-up I used on the Boutique Blossoms card — but here I used the Botanical Expressions Die to create the side panels, which completely transforms the look.
Same fold, Different Look
That’s the thing about fun fold structures — once you understand the bones of them, you start to see just how many directions you can take the same basic construction. This Safari Smiles card uses the same hexagon pop-up fold as my Boutique Blossoms Birthday Wishes card, but it looks almost nothing like it. And that’s entirely down to one decision: using the Botanical Expressions Die to shape the side panels.
Instead of flowers cascading over the window sheet I wrapped the die cut leaves around the window sheet (mostly to give them some strength & structure) which creates a layered canopy effect, it also allowed for solid sides instead of open ones due to the way the die cuts. Thus changing the look of the fun fold all from a simple die cut!
The Scene Inside
The Safari Smiles Bundle is genuinely joyful. The mama and baby elephant are coloured with Stampin’ Blends in warm, earthy tones — soft greys and tawny browns that give them a gentle, almost watercolour quality.
The layering tells a story: rocks and grass tufts at the base ground the elephants in their environment, the die-cut leaf canopy frames them from above, and that tiny yellow bird perched on the mama elephant’s back is the detail that makes people smile every single time.
The “Just For You” sentiment on a simple banner strip keeps the focus on the scene rather than the words — which feels right for a card this characterful.
This card works beautifully as a just-because card, a birthday card, or something for a little one who loves animals.
