Bring Your Cardmaking to a Whole New Dimension!
Have you ever wanted to send a card that creates a huge visual impact on display, but doesn’t require extra postage or a bulky box to mail?
This Flat-Folding Shadow Box Card (sometimes called a shadow frame or tunnel card) gives you the absolute best of both worlds! When set up, it features a deep, layered oval window that frames sweet little birds from the Cheerful Hello stamp set, are perched among lush foliage. But with a simple gentle press to the side, the entire 3D structure collapses completely flat to slip right into a standard envelope.

The look
Two little birds perch on a branch right across the edge of an oval window, almost as if they’re peeking at what’s inside. Behind them, Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper adds dark, moody botanical detail, and the soft green frame around it lets the orange and blue of the birds stand out. A little leaf cluster tucks in at the end of the branch, and a smaller bird sits below to balance the design.
The “For You” is cut with the Words & Wishes Dies from Golden Glow pearlised Specialty Paper from the 2026-2028 In Colors. It has a soft shimmer that’s hard to capture in a photo. The “A Little Note” sentiment comes from the Cheerful Hello set too.

Why I love this style of card
The shadow frame gives the card depth without making it bulky. You see the window effect from the front, and the layers show up when you look at it from the side. It also folds flat, so it’s easy to pop in an envelope and mail, which is a bonus for handmade cards that usually need extra postage or a box.
